Ana Laura Duarte is an artist, cook, and researcher of collaborative practices. Originally from Uruguay and currently based in Brussels, her work navigates migration, collective processes, and the intersection of art, food, aesthetics, and social engagement from a feminist perspective.
She explores the kitchen as a space for gathering, knowledge transmission, and resistance, seeing food as a living language that connects territories, bodies, and memories. Through workshops, catering, installations, and artistic research, she invites people to experience food as a bridge between cultures and as a tool for reclaiming identity.
She has developed projects in spaces such as La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Centro Huarte (Pamplona), Tabakalera (Donosti), and Fermenthings (Brussels), combining artistic programming, food, and participatory dynamics. She was part of La Zurda, a collectively-run cultural space in Spain, where she promoted interdisciplinary gatherings and collaborative practices. Currently living in Brussels, she continues to intertwine art and food in projects that strengthen collective experiences.
As a migrant, she is interested in food as an alternative language and adaptation, the intersection between art and ecology, non-traditional learning methods, and community-based practices. Feminism deeply informs her work, shaping her approach to collaboration, care, and resistance. She explores living materials as metaphors for transformation and fermentation not only as a technique but as a model for social and cultural change.
